    • Research new components, technologies, and methods to incorporate into new designs
    • Design software-based tools to support verification and manufacturing
    • Build and troubleshoot hardware, including basic soldering, operation of test equipment, and daily work in both office and test lab environments
    • Prototype and execute test programs to verify compliance with applicable performance, regulatory, and quality requirements
    • Create and document designs in required formats, including BOMs, ECOs, and work instructions
WE ARE ONE OF THE BEST PLACES TO WORK…
    • We provide competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

    Additional Details:

looking for an embedded systems engineer, somebody that designs software for things like material that gets produced, a product that gets sold.

Embedded software experience is the key requirement.  This is different from concepts like cloud computing, database, full-stack website, mobile apps, IT systems, business platforms.

The candidate needs experience implementing low-level software to physical products.  Examples are all around us:  toys, earbuds, digital cameras, thermostats, slot machines, drones, health monitors, cars, spaceships.  Examples include support industries for those products, such as IC manufacturers, test systems, 3 rd party IP developers.

There is no requirement to have a history with aerospace.

Computer Engineers are typically the best match of skills, though Electrical Engineers with digital and software background can work.  Computer Science majors with an electrical background can work, but are less likely to have experience with embedded software.

A 10+ year candidate must be capable of starting a new project to program a fresh custom circuit board.  Should be able to debug hardware, read and understand datasheets, fundamental microcontroller architecture, parallel computing concepts, and real-time operating requirements.

VHDL is a bonus.  Not required, and we don’t do much of it.  But I will give extra attention to someone that has experience with VHDL or Verilog.

PCB hardware design is not part of this job.  But a candidate for this position should be able to read schematics, especially for components connected to a microcontroller, and be able to map out the hardware-software interface necessary to implement the proper code.  They should be able to review a PCB design for proper connections to internal/external peripherals to make sure the mapping is correct.

C++ is not required.  Most of our work is with C.

Building the board (bench tech skills) is not required.  However being able to solder and work with bench hardware is something that an experienced candidate has likely done.
