Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience designing fiber network solutions, with a focus on FTTX networks and related technologies.
- Proficient in fiber optic network design, with at least 1 year of experience using Fiber Design Software such as QGIS, ArcGIS, or other GIS-based systems (QGIS experience preferred).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Teams, Outlook, Planner) and telework tools like Zoom, Google, or Skype.
- For Senior Fiber Designers: 2-4 years of GIS and telecom records experience, with 3 years in telecom, focusing on distributed split networks, greenfield, brownfield, and fiber splicing.
- For Lead Fiber Designers: 4+ years of telecom experience with distributed split networks, greenfield, brownfield, splicing, and at least 1 year in a leadership role.
Duties:
- Utilize GIS tools such as QGIS and ArcGIS to create efficient FTTX designs, ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of network layouts.
- Continuously learn and adopt new tools and methods to support design work across multiple markets and diverse customer needs.
- Analyze network demand data to develop optimal fiber designs, permit plans, construction drawings, and conduit designs.
- Review and provide feedback on permitting prints to minimize costly or complex design changes, ensuring compliance with jurisdictional requirements.
- Maintain a rigorous quality control and assurance process, including validation checks and QA/QC of fiber designs, and perform splicing within GIS or relevant software.
- Support special projects and take ownership of complex tasks, providing mentorship to new hires and lower-level designers while ensuring timely project completion and delivery.
