If you have mechanical engineering experience in the steel and/or heavy industry and want a chance to do project management, this may be exactly what you're looking for. Our client is a thriving and profitable machine shop in southern Illinois.
Responsibilities:
- Receive a stack of prints, read them, bid on the job. If you get the job, “CAD” it, communicate with the shop what needs to be done, order the materials and follow the job all the way through ‘till it’s done.
- Manage design (of conveyor systems, continuous caster) and repairing of equipment
- Manage maintenance schedule
- Interact with customers (Steel Manufacturing companies, Mines – any company that needs heavy equipment)
- Consult with customers regarding care and repair of their machinery
- Read Blueprints
- Estimate
- Build anything from a 30 ton hydraulic unit all the way down to a metal stand.
- Bachelor Degree - prefer Mechanical Engineering
- MUST have strong estimating ability and experience
- Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience in steel mill industry or heavy industrial background
- AutoCAD proficiency
- SolidWorks would be a plus
- Experience with heavy machinery and steel fabrication required
- Experience and knowledge of pneumatic s and hydraulics
- Fluent Blue Print Reader required
- Must be personable with excellent communication skills
- Starting pay 60k or higher for the right person
