Renewables Controls Engineer

 We are seeking a skilled and proactive Renewables Controls Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will design, implement, and test Power Plant Controller (PPC) systems for renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and hybrid solutions. You will collaborate closely with clients to develop control systems that meet regional, national, and local energy requirements.


Key Responsibilities :

  • Design and Develop PPC Systems : Lead the design and implementation of Power Plant Controller systems for renewable energy projects, ensuring they align with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Create Control Narratives : Develop detailed control narratives based on ISO region, Transmission System Operator (TSO), and local requirements for each project.
  • Client Collaboration : Participate in design meetings and maintain regular communication with clients to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Control System Programming : Program and configure SEL RTACs or other PLCs used in renewable energy projects, ensuring system functionality and performance.
  • Technical Support : Provide ongoing technical support for new and existing projects, including hands-on assistance during the installation and commissioning phases.
  • Testing and Optimization : Test, troubleshoot, and tune PPC systems, ensuring optimal performance across all renewable energy sites.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with other project team members to integrate PPC systems seamlessly into the larger project scope.
Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience : Minimum of 3 years of experience with Power Plant Controllers (PPC), control narratives, and related systems.
  • Technical Skills :
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
    • Experience with SEL RTACs or similar RTUs .
    • Familiarity with HMI software (e.g., Ignition) is a plus.
    • Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and internal teams. Preferred Skills :

      • Experience programming and configuring control systems for renewable energy projects.
      • On-site experience supporting installation and commissioning.
      • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
